Locally Sourced Fresh Produce
Lancashire and the surrounding area plays host to an abundance of fine food producers and suppliers. With environmental concerns over food production and imports growing, The Blue Mallard aims to utilise local farmers, growers and suppliers as much as possible.
We're passionate about our local food and dishes and try to develop our menus with these at the forefront.
The cheeses on our cheese boards are all British and come from the fine selection offered by Premier Cheese. Offering cheeses such as Lanashire Bomb, Cherwell goats cheese, St Endillion Cornish Brie and Exmoor Blue. Premier cheese also supply Heston's restaurant 'The fat duck'.
Our meat is from British farms and is supplied by West Lancs Poultry. They locate Ribble Valley lamb, Goosnargh chicken, Scottish Beef all of the highest quality and now supply us with beautiful free range pork.
Fresh fish and seafood is delivered from M and J seafood. The Fish is all caught from the coasts of Britain with Mussles from Wales and Scallops from Scotland.
Our Vegetables are locally sourced from Causeway Farm Shop just up the road in Rufford. Picked out the ground early hours of the morning and prepared on a daily basis to keep everything fresh and in season.
The Bakehouse new to Burscough Wharf supply us with freshly baked bread every morning. We use bloomer, rosemary focaccia, flavoured rolls, sweet brioce and crusty baguettes.
We use the award winning Mrs Dowsons for a fantastic range of Ice creams and sorbet. With flavours such as simple vanilla pod, chunky chocolate to a more exciting flavour like Chocolate orange, amaretto and black cherry and creme caramel and honeycomb.
Our wine is carefully sourced from Enotria wines company. Enotria is the UK’s leading specialist wine supplier sourcing fantastic wines from all over the world. Nothing you see on our menu will be seen in any supermarkets.
